SAN DIEGO, July 6, 2021 – Mission Federal Credit Union (Mission Fed), the largest memberowned, not-for-profit, financial institution exclusively serving San Diego County, today announced that Zelle® is now available to members in its mobile and online experiences. Zelle® allows members to quickly send and receive money directly from one trusted U.S. bank account to another, right from Mission Fed mobile and online banking.

“Our culture at Mission Fed prioritizes member service, and that’s what we have continued to do throughout the pandemic,” said Debra Schwartz, President and CEO. “Introducing Zelle® to our members was another step in expanding our digital options. We’re proud to join the growing number of financial institutions that now offer Zelle®.”

The Zelle Network® includes financial institutions of all sizes. For more than 140 million consumers, Zelle® is already available from the convenience of their mobile banking app, making digital payments a fast, safe and easy alternative to cash and checks. Money sent with Zelle® goes directly from one enrolled bank or credit union account in the U.S. to another, using only a recipient’s email address or U.S. mobile number. Funds are typically available within minutes when both parties are already enrolled with Zelle®. Consumers should only use Zelle® to send and receive money with friends, family and people they know and trust.

Expanding the digital experience for members continues to be a key priority for Mission Fed. Pawan Johar, VP Digital Channels and Strategy for the credit union, has over 20 years of experience in technology, including digital transformation, program delivery and business strategy.

“At Mission Fed, we’ve been focused on implementing solutions that make life easier for our members and community,” said Johar. “This became even more relevant during the pandemic. While we kept our branches open, members still needed the ease of mobile and online options. Zelle® is a key piece of our ongoing strategy.”
