Mission Fed in the Community

Mission Fed is dedicated to connecting with the San Diego community. We partner with local organizations to give back and create positive experiences for San Diegans, while helping nonprofits and other philanthropic groups improve the community. Our Events Calendar lists upcoming events, and sometimes includes discount promotional offers to events that we support.

Mission Fed community moments kicked off this summer in June with the always exciting San Diego County Fair and Teacher Appreciation Days. The Teacher Appreciation Days at the Fair Program offered our dedicated San Diego County educators and staff four free tickets to enjoy the fair on specific dates when they visit a Mission Fed branch with employment information or credential(s).

The San Diego Police Department’s 16th Annual Friends of the Badge Luncheon on June 22 was an event Mission Fed was proud to support. The luncheon was an inspiring and heartwarming event that highlighted the San Diego Police Department’s community-oriented policing style by sharing stories of officers serving the community.

In July, Mission Fed supported several community events in San Diego, like the Opening Day of San Diego Padres RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) Program, which helps youth in underserved areas participate in baseball and softball. The Padres RBI Program gives money to local nonprofits in San Diego County, including YMCA partners, so that they can provide a baseball and softball program at no cost to participants. The Padres also provide grants to donate new and gently used baseball equipment to partner sites. We are proud to support the Padres’ initiative to help more children in San Diego County engage in athletics and stay active.

Also in July, we partnered with local radio station 91X FM to support the San Diego Pride Parade, which attracts more than 100,000 visitors, making it one of the largest pride parades in the United States. We support all San Diegans and had a blast celebrating love with complimentary Mission Fed rainbow sunglasses. The San Diego Pride Parade took place on July 16 in Hillcrest.

Going on now through Friday, August 19, we are happy to promote Carlsbad’s TGIF Concerts in the Parks, now in its 31st season. On Friday nights throughout the summer, the City of Carlsbad hosts free concerts at various venues all across the city, from Stagecoach to Calavera Hills Community Park and more. In addition to great live music, there will be food vendors on site and free, hands-on art activities for the whole family to enjoy from Family Open Studios.

Coming up in August, Mission Fed is partnering with ¡Latin Food Fest!, which benefits the Campanile Foundation, a philanthropic foundation that supports San Diego State University’s commitment to become a top ten urban research university that works to make a global impact. Attend the Grande Tasting at Latin Food Fest on Saturday, August 13 to enjoy more than one hundred food, wine and spirit stations and music from Amistad Cubana. In addition to the all-inclusive Latin food journey that guests will experience, Mission Fed is proud to provide a VIP Tent experience that includes a two-story Montejo Beer Bar for guests to enjoy while dining on unlimited scrumptious delicacies like Baja oysters, sashimi made from ahi tuna, Spanish jamón and a special treat from chef Mario Medina: braised pork shanks. Mission Fed VIP guests will also receive a gift bag, massages, organic Tequila and KORBEL champagne.

Our commitment to supporting community events extends year round. Visit our Events Calendar to see all of our upcoming events in San Diego—we’d love for you to say hi and enjoy the various activities San Diego has to offer.
