SAN DIEGO, CA – The Front Runners and Walkers San Diego Pride 5K Run + Walk is back in-person on July 16, 2022. The event, sponsored by Mission Fed Credit Union, is a highlight and “kickoff” of the annual Pride Week festivities in San Diego.

Last year, despite the pandemic, more than 1,300 runners and walkers from around the world participated virtually and raised $24,000 for the LGBT Center’s Youth Housing Project and San Diego Pride Community Grants. This year event organizers invite runners and walkers to dress up in rainbow swag to celebrate and show their support for the San Diego LGBT community.

“We’re thrilled to be back in-person and back on the streets of Hillcrest,” said Andy Kleinke with the Front Runners & Walkers. “We’re excited to bring the 1600 plus participants a great kickoff to Pride festivities.” Kleinke added that there is still a virtual race option for those out-of-town, or who still want to support but cannot attend in-person.

For more information, to register, or make a donation to support the San Diego LGBT community, please visit: pride5k.run. Registration is $49 before July 15, or $59 on the day of the race. Each entry includes a hi-tech t-shirt, drawstring bag, finisher’s medal, and more!

Virtual participants will have their race packet mailed the week of July 11, 2022 and are encouraged to share their PRIDE by taking photos along the way to share on social media. Recommended hashtags include #frwsd #sdpride5k #sandiegopride.

Prior to the race kickoff, the popular Kids’ 5K will begin at 7:30am.

“Mission Fed believes that diversity, equity and inclusion are fundamental to a vibrant, relevant and growing credit union movement – it’s good business, “said Debra Schwartz, President & CEO of Mission Fed. “It is our drive to achieve more and create a better future for ourselves and others that unites us all. Supporting our LGBTQ community through the Pride 5K is just one of the ways Mission Fed shows up for this community.”

Front Runners and Walkers would also like to thank all event sponsors: Blue Shield California, Veregy, Mo’s Universe, Healthnet, Holiday Inn, McDonald’s, MediExcel Health Plan, Milestone Running, Scripps, Babycakes and Brooks.
