We put the "team" in "credit union"
Voices cheering in concert, “We want a pitcher—not a belly itcher!” This was the delightful chant we heard flowing from the dugout at my son’s Little League baseball game as his team supported their teammate who was up to bat. While we all chuckled, I couldn’t help but reflect on the passion of the group and how much their energy resonated with camaraderie and support for their common goal. They wanted to win, and they wanted to do it together.
Teamwork makes getting a job done both fun and rewarding. Bouncing ideas off one another and bringing in a variety of perspectives are beneficial to every project, small or large. Mission Fed has 29 departments and 27 branches, and we serve over 182,000 members. Our employees must communicate well with and trust each other, as well as provide encouragement and show understanding because, as a team, we work toward a shared purpose: the success of our members. This is something that cannot be achieved working on our own.
Providing financial services to support our members throughout every stage of life can be complex, but teamwork simplifies it. It allows us to leverage the knowledge, experience and passion of each of our employees. At Mission Fed, teamwork exists even beyond our employees and the day-to-day interactions with members—it applies to how we work with our Business and Community partners on an ongoing basis as well. Whether it’s finding a way to simplify a process to make members’ lives easier, or creating a program that will benefit a variety of organizations throughout San Diego, teamwork plays an integral part from conceptualization to realization.
From Little League baseball games to financial institutions, groups that use teamwork are going to be more successful than those who don’t. While it is true that there is no “I” in “team,” there are two in “credit union.” And, as Aesop said, “In union there is strength.”
