Vote Mission Fed for San Diego's Best

Remember that cheer at basketball games?

We put them to the test
‘Cause good we are
And better we’ll be
When we strive for victory

My days in the middle of a human pyramid are long gone, but I’m still a cheerleader at heart. Living in beautiful San Diego, working at Mission Fed and taking care of our members gives me a lot to cheer about. And this is the time of year when the San Diego U-T Readers Poll provides me—and all of us—with the ideal place to show our team spirit, because we can vote online for Mission Fed or text your vote as often as once a day from now through June 27.

Maybe it’s the “go team” spirit in me, but I truly believe San Diego is America’s Finest City. My husband and I moved here from Ohio more than 20 years ago, and I’m still grateful every single day that we chose San Diego. And it’s not just the weather, the culture or the ability to go from the beach to the desert in a few hours—it’s really because we have the best people. We only knew two people when we moved here, but were instantly welcomed by colleagues at work, our neighbors and community-oriented people. Very quickly, people made us feel at home by inviting us to parties, sporting events, hikes and volunteerism. We’re not the only ones who think San Diego is the best—we have a steady stream of friends from all over the world who come to visit us (and I don’t think it’s because they miss us).

This year, Mission Fed was nominated in five different categories in the U-T Readers Poll.

Vote Mission Fed for Best Local Credit Union

I’m not surprised that a group of people right here in San Diego decided to start our Credit Union in 1961, because San Diegans are very caring people who look out for each other and give back to the community. And Mission Fed has kept our local focus, becoming the largest, locally based financial institution exclusively serving San Diego County and continuously giving back to our local educational and nonprofit organizations. Doing business with someone who cares about the community is the best way to go. We base our decisions on what’s best for our membership because our customers—whom we call members—are the reason Mission Fed was created in the first place. Low loan rates, 30 local branches, a nationwide network of over 30,000 fee-free CO-OP ATMs, and convenient online and mobile services are just a few of the ways we help customers save time and money, reach their goals, and, as I like to say, get a better night’s sleep.

Best Auto Loan Provider

Just today, I was reviewing promotional materials about our low Auto Loan rates. But it’s more than just the rate—it’s also the service. I hear from so many customers—whom we call members—who had a great experience with Mission Fed for their Auto Loan. Yes, they appreciate the low payment, but they also know that whether they apply at a branch, by phone or at, they can always count on us to be here for them and answer their questions.

Best Mortgage/Home Loan Provider

Isn’t it the best feeling to know that the Credit Union you already know and trust offers Home Loans—probably the biggest purchase a San Diegan will ever make? Along with our great rates and a variety of options, Mission Fed’s team is right here in San Diego to help you through the process—and we provide that same great service throughout the life of loan.

Best Financial Planning

Savings Accounts, Checking Accounts, Money Markets and Certificates are great ways to save money. But it’s nice to have other options as well. Mission Fed provides our members the services of CUSO Financial Services, L.P. CFS Investment Representatives can discuss and review investment objectives and goals, including CD alternatives, retirement planning and life insurance products.

Best Place to Work

I come to work with a smile and leave at the end of the day feeling a sense of accomplishment because I know that in some way, my work has made a difference in our members’ lives, maybe even resulting in a “Mission Fed Moment” for them. And my friends throughout the Credit Union have the same experience. Mission Fed not only takes care of our members; we give back to the community on their behalf. So we have plenty of opportunities to volunteer at a beach clean-up, give back to a nonprofit or review scholarship applications. We were very proud that based on our Employee Engagement Survey results, we earned the 2015 Peter Barron Stark Award for Workplace Excellence, because we know if we take care of our employees, they’ll take good care of our customers.

Whew, all that cheering makes me ready for some Gatorade. So let’s show our Mission Fed spirit and vote for the best Credit Union and all the related categories in the 2016 San Diego’s BEST U-T Readers Poll. We can vote every day now through June 27, and some categories are even available for voting by text—which makes it so easy.

Let’s show San Diego who’s B-E-S-T. Hooray for your support and thanks for your vote! And please, don’t make me get back in that human pyramid—I’m sure that wouldn’t be the best idea.
