Community

Mission Federal Credit Union gives back to the communities where our members live and work by partnering with educational and other nonprofit organizations. Giving back is not just what we do; it’s who we are, and that’s why we created Mission for Nonprofits.
Thank you for making us 200,000 members strong! In October, we’re saying thank you in many ways like Member Appreciation Week at all 30 branches, #MyMissionFedMoment social media drawing, $1 Million Mission Fed Money Match, Refer a Friend and more. Read this week’s blog to find out how we’re celebrating you, our member.

Mission Fed partners with many organizations in San Diego to improve the community. This summer, we’ve supported the San Diego Padres’ RBI Program, the San Diego Police Department’s Annual Luncheon and many more events. And, with more summer events in August like Carlsbad’s TGIF concert series and Latin Food Fest, there are a lot of fun activities still left to do. Visit our Events Calendar to find out what’s going on in San Diego.

Mission Fed has partnered with the San Diego Fair for Teacher Appreciation Days on Friday, June 17 and Friday, June 24. San Diego County school employees can come into a Mission Fed branch for four free tickets to the San Diego County Fair, which features many exciting activities. Find out about the many ways Mission Fed thanks our teachers!

Mission Fed now has 30 branches, which means there are more ways to save throughout San Diego County. This month, Mission Fed celebrates 55 years of serving our members and the San Diego community. Since we opened our doors in 1961, Mission Fed has always combined financial soundness with member service.

With some members and Mission Fed employees dating back more than 30 years, we thought it would be fun to look at where we started, what’s changed over the last 55 years and a look at what’s to come.

Thirty years in the financial services industry has taught me the importance of building relationships and maintaining them. Recently, Mission Fed had the opportunity to speak with our school superintendent partners about how our continued relationship helps to support schools, students’ futures and what being a partner really means. Our relationship building doesn’t end there. With hundreds of community partners, Mission Fed continues to expand our work in the community.

Because credit union members are owners, credit unions focus on customer service and doing what’s right for the membership. Traditional banks serve both their stockholders and their customers because they have a for-profit business model. Credit unions serve just our member-owners because we have a not-for-profit model, responding to members with lower interest rates on loans and credit cards and generally higher dividends on savings accounts. Banking with a credit union also supports the local community and nonprofits. Get started with Mission Fed today!

Credit unions came into existence to provide an ethical, local, customer-focused alternative to big banks to meet member financial needs. Mission Fed continues the credit union focus by building successful financial moments with members through ethical business practices, competitive products and services and community support. Winning the 2015 Better Business Bureau Torch Award in Marketplace Ethics is a Mission Fed Moment we can proudly share with our members. Thank you for your support and business!
