Since opening our doors in 1961, one of Mission Fed’s guiding principles is to provide knowledgeable, secure and personal financial service and products to San Diego County. Thanks to San Diegans’ belief in us, we’ve grown to become the largest locally based financial institution exclusively serving San Diego County.

Security through insurance and an excellent track record
Mission Fed is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an independent agency of the United States government. The NCUA operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) which is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government. The NCUSIF provides all members of federally insured credit unions with $250,000 in coverage for their single ownership accounts and there are several options for larger accounts to be fully insured if structured properly.
Credit unions have a long track record of financial stability. Since President Roosevelt passed the Credit Union Act in 1934 to establish federally chartered credit unions in every state, all credit unions, including Mission Fed, have successfully funded ourselves as member cooperatives without taking any money from federal insurance.

Over the past 55 years, we’ve grown to reach more than 200,000 Mission Fed members. Our members have entrusted us with over $3 billion in assets. Our top priority is protecting that wealth, because our members and their safety are our top priority. We appreciate that our 200,000 members believe in us, just like we believe in them, which is why we strive to constantly improve our offerings and put their needs and the needs of San Diego County initiatives first.

Having $3 billion in assets makes each of our members’ accounts more secure and it allows us to offer even more products with great rates. The strength these assets provide allows us to serve our members better across our entire range of products, from Checking Accounts and Savings Accounts to Money Market Accounts and Retirement Plans, Credit Cards, Home Loans and Auto Loans. We’re also able to offer services and partnerships, like our Autoland Car Buying Service, which provides our members with a convenient, hassle-free car buying experience.
What we provide to our members: Excellent products, convenience and high satisfaction
We measure our growth not just in the assets we manage, but in the satisfaction of our members. In 2014, we had a customer satisfaction of 3.7 out of 4. We pride ourselves on helping members realize “Mission Fed Moments,” which are important financial milestones like buying their first home or owning a car.
By believing in us, our members have helped us grow to 30 branches across San Diego. Because of this, we have the infrastructure to deliver great support to our members, even in times of disaster, such as during the wildfires in 2014, when we maintained support for our members without interruption and provided information about our Fire Relief Assistance programs to members.
The service we provide to our members extends beyond our physical branches to our network of nearly 30,000 fee-free CO-OP ATMs for members, and upgrades to our ATMs to take cash deposits without an envelope.
We support our members online via WebChat and social media. Our Online Banking and Mobile Banking solutions help you manage your Mission Fed Accounts 24 hours a day, wherever you are. Smart technology solutions like signing documents with DocuSign save our members time and money.
Our strong membership has also allowed us to support the San Diego community that we are proud to call home, through programs like Mission 2 $AVE, Mission for Nonprofits, partnerships with local nonprofits and more.

In addition to always maintaining top security standards for our members’ Accounts, we help you keep your accounts safe by providing information on security, like these tips to prevent identity theft and fraud and offering products with security measures built in, such as our Credit Cards, which come with Mastercard® ID Theft Alerts™, emergency wallet replacement and expert resolution services in the event of identity theft.
