Mission Fed partners with many organizations in San Diego to improve the community. This summer, we’ve supported the San Diego Padres’ RBI Program, the San Diego Police Department’s Annual Luncheon and many more events. And, with more summer events in August like Carlsbad’s TGIF concert series and Latin Food Fest, there are a lot of fun activities still left to do. Visit our Events Calendar to find out what’s going on in San Diego.

With a Mission Fed Credit Card, you can be confident that you have a card that benefits you, whether you’re staying in San Diego or headed out of town. With your Mission Fed Credit Card, you can turn your smartphone or other device into a mobile wallet that allows you to make purchases at many stores and within apps without having to fuss with cards or cash.

Many successful people will tell you, it’s not how much money you make, but how much money you spend that affects your short-term and long-term financial health. By making a few simple adjustments to your daily routine, you could cut costs allowing you to save more for retirement, your next great vacation or maybe even for those solar panels you’ve been considering. Not all activities are simple, but saving money can be.

This month, Mission Fed celebrates 55 years of serving our members and the San Diego community. Since we opened our doors in 1961, Mission Fed has always combined financial soundness with member service.

With some members and Mission Fed employees dating back more than 30 years, we thought it would be fun to look at where we started, what’s changed over the last 55 years and a look at what’s to come.

Owning a home is more than just hype; it’s the gateway to long-term and short-term financial success. There are many reasons owning a home is important, and most of them stem from the fact that a home is an asset and paying a mortgage increases your equity in that asset, which is better than paying rent. A potential increase in your credit score, tax benefits and anticipated growth in the housing market are additional benefits to having a mortgage. A home purchase is an investment you’ll be glad you made!

Thirty years in the financial services industry has taught me the importance of building relationships and maintaining them. Recently, Mission Fed had the opportunity to speak with our school superintendent partners about how our continued relationship helps to support schools, students’ futures and what being a partner really means. Our relationship building doesn’t end there. With hundreds of community partners, Mission Fed continues to expand our work in the community.

Because credit union members are owners, credit unions focus on customer service and doing what’s right for the membership. Traditional banks serve both their stockholders and their customers because they have a for-profit business model. Credit unions serve just our member-owners because we have a not-for-profit model, responding to members with lower interest rates on loans and credit cards and generally higher dividends on savings accounts. Banking with a credit union also supports the local community and nonprofits. Get started with Mission Fed today!
