The holiday season is all about giving, and giving back to nonprofits is just one way to think outside the (gift) box. Here are some ways you can give back to your community this holiday season.

Mission Fed was proud to support Susan G. Komen San Diego RACE FOR THE CURE® The Walk to End Breast Cancer on Sunday, November 4. The walk brings a community of people together to raise awareness and funds to help end breast cancer. Mission Fed believes in the power of community, so in addition to sponsoring this walk, we also planted “Mission Hearts in the Community” hearts along the walk route. When found, each heart was worth a $100 donation to a San Diego based nonprofit. Learn more about this event now.
Through partnerships with schools and over 200 nonprofit organizations directly committed to a healthier, stronger, vibrant and resilient San Diego County, we’re on a mission to ensure that San Diego’s success is our bottom line. Learn how we’re partnering with the community this summer.
Support Go Red for Women and help your family and friends become aware of the number one health threat to women and men. Cardiovascular disease takes the life of one woman every 80 seconds in the U.S. The good news is that 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented with education and lifestyle changes.
There’s a lot to do this fall in San Diego! Visit any Mission Fed Branch to make a donation to the Food 4 Kids Backpack program and then enjoy the San Diego Zoo or Safari Park and many wonderful San Diego museums for Kids Free in October.
Mission Federal ArtWalk, San Diego’s premier arts and music cultural event, featuring more than 350 booths of artwork and a variety of bands and dancers in Little Italy, is an event you don’t want to miss!
The holiday season is a special time for San Diegans and Mission Fed. Not only is the weather beautiful and many streets and offices decorated to bring cheer, but there’s also a lot of fun family-friendly activities throughout the county. Read this week’s blog and start planning your holiday outings.

Mission Fed partners with many organizations in San Diego to improve the community. This summer, we’ve supported the San Diego Padres’ RBI Program, the San Diego Police Department’s Annual Luncheon and many more events. And, with more summer events in August like Carlsbad’s TGIF concert series and Latin Food Fest, there are a lot of fun activities still left to do. Visit our Events Calendar to find out what’s going on in San Diego.

San Diego offers many beautiful sights and adventures, ranging from trendy new brunch places to historical landmarks like the Cabrillo National Monument or Gaslamp Quarter. And with over 45 museums, the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, Petco Park and Aquatica San Diego there’s something for everyone to enjoy exploring. Check out this list of popular outings to start planning today. We hope to see you out and about this year!

Since the beginning, Mission Fed has had strong ties to the educational community, and we continue to be extremely dedicated to our local schools. We support about 30 of the 42 school districts in San Diego County, offering assistance in the form of scholarships, financial education grants and sponsorships for school district programs.
